A Divine Journey at Bhaktivedanta Gurukula and International School (Vrindaranyam Campus)
Introduction:
On June 20, 2023, the Bhaktivedanta Gurukula and International School (Vrindaranyam Campus) joyously celebrated the Sri Jagannath Rath Yatra. This auspicious festival brought together the dedicated Gurukula staff, enthusiastic devotees, and esteemed guests in a spirit of devotion and celebration. The event showcased the rich cultural heritage of ISKCON and marked a significant milestone in the spiritual journey of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra. With a vibrant schedule filled with rituals and festivities, the Sri Jagannath Rath Yatra left a lasting impression on all those who participated.
Kirtan Team Leading the Way:
The divine festivities commenced at 4:30 PM with an enchanting Arti at the temple. The sacred atmosphere reverberated with the sounds of devotional music and heartfelt prayers. The dedicated kirtan team, consisting of talented singers and musicians, led the congregation in an uplifting and melodious kirtan. Their soul-stirring chants and rhythmic beats continued until the chariot reached its destination, infusing the entire event with a sense of spiritual vibrancy and devotion.
Pahandi and Boarding Rath:
At 5 PM, the ceremonial Pahandi, a traditional procession, took place, accompanied by joyous chanting and dancing. Devotees and participants reverently carried the divine forms of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra from the temple to the elaborately decorated Rath (chariot). This sacred act symbolized the deities’ willingness to embark on their annual journey to bless the devotees and spread divine grace throughout the community. The entire procession was a sight to behold, with devotees eagerly participating and seeking blessings from the deities.
Rath Yatra Commences:
At 5:30 PM, with great fanfare and excitement, the Sri Jagannath Rath Yatra officially began. The beautifully adorned Rath, pulled by enthusiastic devotees, embarked on its grand journey through the streets. The entire route was transformed into a vibrant spectacle of colors, as devotees chanted the holy names and showered flowers on the deities. The procession created an atmosphere of unity and devotion, attracting onlookers and inspiring them to join in the celebration.
Arrti of Jagannath at Gauushala:
As the Rath made its way to its destination, the Gauushala, a special Arati ceremony was conducted at 7 PM. The devotees offered their heartfelt prayers and expressions of love to Lord Jagannath, seeking His divine blessings. The Gauushala resonated with spiritual energy and reverence, as devotees immersed themselves in the divine presence of the Lord.
