Gitanushilanam, the annual celebration of Krishna conscious competitions, rekindled the spirit at Bhaktivedanta Gurukula and International School on September 1-2, 2023. Grounded in the Janmashtami festival, it remains an enduring source of spiritual growth and creative expression for students from diverse schools, further strengthening their profound connection with Lord Krishna.

At the heart of Gitanushilanam lies its mission to immerse young minds in devotion to Lord Krishna. Months of dedicated preparation culminated in two extraordinary days. Schools from Mathura and beyond were invited to partake in a variety of Krishna-centered competitions, including the Krishna Quiz, Bhagavad Gita Shloka Recitation, Bhagavad Gita Art Competition, Krishna Bhajan Singing Competition, Dance Competition, and extemporaneous speaking. This year, over 500 students from approximately 15 schools showcased their talents, transforming Gitanushilanam into a vibrant tapestry of art and devotion.
Day One Highlights:
The festivities began on September 1st with a ceremonial lamp lighting by esteemed dignitaries, including Dr. Sudhir Goyal, Head of the Civil Engineering department at GLA University, BGIS Dean Radhakant Das, Lila Govind Prabhu, and others. Notable guests such as Yograj Singh, Director of SND Public School, Palwal, Dr. Ekta Kapoor from Sanskriti University, and Sureshwar Prabhu, the director of ISKCON Youth Forum, Vrindavan, graced the occasion with inspiring speeches. The inaugural day featured the intense Krishna Quiz, where the top six teams engaged in a battle of wits. Meanwhile, in the conference room, students recited verses from the Bhagavad Gita, while the Gauranga Hall and Jagannath Hall showcased their artistic talents.
Day Two Spectacle:
The second day of Gitanushilanam was equally remarkable, with prominent guests and judges for various competitions. HG Panchgauda Prabhu, President of ISKCON Vrindavan, and Manisha Arora, an IAS officer from Rajasthan, inspired students with their wisdom. Dr. Ashok, former Vice Chancellor of Mangalyatan University and a research faculty at Harvard University, added to the grandeur of the occasion. The day featured enchanting dance performances and melodious singing by students from different schools, captivating the audience.
Grand Finale:
As the sun set on the second day, the grand finale unfolded with the announcement of winners and a heartwarming prize-giving ceremony. Chief guests bestowed trophies upon the victorious participants, recognizing their exceptional talent and devotion.
