One day, Kans went to Putana. He ordered her to search for Krishna and kill him then and there. In order to search Krishna, she went to villages and had started killing all the new born babies. While she was on her search, she saw that there was a celebration going on in Vrindavan.
She went there and saw that everyone had gathered there and were celebrating the birth of a very beautiful baby. She returned to the cave and made a poisonous milk. Then she went to Vrindavan. She converted herself into a very beautiful lady and she asked to Yashoda (mother of lord Krishna) is she allowed to give the milk to that baby? Yashoda said “of course, think him as your own baby!” and went out of the room.
When Putana gave her poisonous milk to Krishna, he drank it all but there was no reaction of the poison at all which surprised her very much. Then she started flying by holding Krishna. But Krishna killed her while being in the air. By the time she fell on the ground, she was dead.
Everybody saw her and ran towards that direction by calling Krishna’s name as they were really terrified by the view of the scene presented before them. Then Yashoda maiya, Nanda raj and the other villagers took Krishna off from that dead asur and went back to Vrindavan and lived happily.
