Introduction

Greetings, dear readers! Today, I am excited to share with you the incredible experience we had at the Vrindaranyam campus during a special session on “Yoga for Wellness.” It was an enlightening event, graced by the presence of the esteemed Shri Viswas V. Phathak, a renowned professor of yoga from Maharashtra. The session was attended by students from class 6 to 11, and it proved to be a transformative journey toward holistic well-being.

The Setting – Krishna Sudama Hall

The venue for this soul-nourishing event was the serene Krishna Sudama Hall, nestled below the new temple at the Vrindaranyam campus. The tranquil surroundings set the perfect ambiance for an enriching yoga experience. With eagerness in our hearts and minds, we gathered to embark on this journey to discover the essence of yoga and its profound impact on our well-being.

A Guru of Wisdom – Shri Viswas V. Phathak

Shri Viswas V. Phathak needs no introduction in the world of yoga. His reputation precedes him as a highly learned and respected yoga guru from Maharashtra. We were honored to learn that he had recently conducted a course on Patanjali Yoga Sutras at IIT Mandi, adding to our excitement for the session.

As Shri Viswasji entered the hall, a sense of reverence filled the air. With humility and warmth, he greeted us all, making us feel at ease and eager to learn from his vast wisdom.

The Journey to Holistic Well-being

The session began with an insightful discourse on the true essence of yoga. Shri Viswasji emphasized that yoga is not merely a set of physical exercises; it is a path to attain mental, physical, and spiritual harmony. The Patanjali Yoga Sutras, an ancient text that he recently taught at IIT Mandi, served as the foundation for our exploration.

Throughout the session, we delved into the various aspects of yoga, including asanas (postures), pranayama (breath control), dhyana (meditation), and the philosophy behind it all. Shri Viswasji skillfully guided us through practical demonstrations, ensuring that we grasped the essence of each practice.

Connecting Mind, Body, and Spirit

One of the most significant takeaways from the session was the understanding of the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit. As we practiced the asanas, we learned to synchronize our breath with movements, fostering a deep mind-body connection. This synchronization allowed us to experience a sense of tranquility and mindfulness, leaving behind the stresses of everyday life.

Gratitude and Enthusiastic Participation

The students actively participated in the session, immersing themselves in the teachings with zeal and enthusiasm. Shri Viswasji’s gentle encouragement and patient guidance made the experience all the more enjoyable and fulfilling.

The “Yoga for Wellness” session at Vrindaranyam campus left an indelible mark on our hearts and minds.
